Tackling anti-social behaviour in our neighbourhoods
We are committed to dealing with anti-social behaviour to make sure our neighbourhoods are places people love to live.
You can find more information about a recent case where we worked with partners to support a customer, and information on what to do if you are experience anti-social behaviour in your neighbourhood.
Dealing with anti-social behaviour
Our Housing team work closely with the police and other agencies to tackle anti-social behaviour in our neighbourhoods.
This can include taking action such as Closure Orders, which limit access to a property for a period of time, in order to prevent further anti-social behaviour happening, such as violent crime.
A recent case in Bristol, led by Housing Officer Tom Bolton, sadly involved a customer being the victim of anti-social behaviour when she was seriously assaulted in her home.
As our customer was nervous about returning to her property where she lived alone, we worked with the police to get a Closure Order. This was done in order to keep the customer and her neighbours safe from further anti-social behaviour.
The Closure Order meant that our customer needed to find suitable alternative accommodation, which we worked with local agencies to arrange. We also purchased a new phone for our customer due to her previous one being stolen by the perpetrator of the crime.
What should you do if you are experiencing anti-social behaviour?
We have a range of information on our website to help if you are experiencing anti-social behaviour. This includes on different types of anti-social behaviour, including noise, drugs and alcohol, and threats.
You can also use our website to report anti-social behaviour. We have also recently finished a successful pilot of the ASB App, which can be used to report anti-social behaviour in real time and add evidence.
Area Manager Shaun Baker explained “We listened to customer feedback and heard that customers wanted more choice of ways to report anti-social behaviour. We introduced the ASB App as part of ASB awareness week in July. It has been extremely popular with 91 customers downloading the app.”
You can find the app by searching for ASB App on the app store on your phone.
