New kitchen at Torbay Foyer
Supported housing residents at our Torbay Foyer are delighted with their new kitchen, helping the space to feel homelier. Apprentices from LiveWest have been updating the kitchen, with the support of donations from Howdens, City Electrical Factors, Jewson Partnership Solutions, Fibo UK, Vaillant, Bradfords Building Supplies, Rexel and Cobwebs SW.
With local community hubs and charities nearby, we donated our previous commercial kitchen appliances and units to benefit local communities.
Not only has this kitchen because come a space for young residents to gather and encourage each other to get cooking but it’s also became a space for the apprentices to learn new skills.
The Supported Housing team are currently planning their upcoming cooking sessions to encourage residents to come together and cook meals.
Courtenay Centre community garden opens
A community garden recently opened at the Courtenay Centre in Newton Abbot, which we have supported through our social value programme with our relationship with Jewsons. The garden will offer a space for wellbeing activity, whilst also providing food for the community fridge and centre café.
Cranbrook mobility scooter
A mobility scooter available for hire for residents of Cranbrook, Exeter has launched. We helped to fund the scooter, which will give residents the opportunity to explore the country park and town.
Barne Barton Community Larder
The first session at our Community Larder in Barne Barton, Plymouth, was recently held, offering food at a low cost for local residents. The session was supported by our Estate Services team, our Community team, as well as volunteers from LiveWest.

Staple Tor Road outside space
We have worked with residents at Staple Tor Road to create an outside space for them to enjoy, with three planters installed for them to look after. These were made by Tavistock Men In Shed's and were planted with bee friendly perennial plants and a mixture of bee and butterfly friendly seeds. Exciting future plans include an apple tree being added to one of the planters.

Hoarding support
Our Housing and Tenancy Sustainment teams have been instrumental in supporting with a resident struggling with hoarding. Through positive support and engagement, we have worked with Homecare to help the resident. We are continuing to support the resident, including with finding a regular cleaner to help maintain the home. We are able to offer a range of support, so please get in touch.
