Supporting communities: Gloucestershire and Bristol

We are proud to support a wide range of projects and events throughout the region, as well as helping residents to thrive. Bringing communities together is important to us.
If you have an idea for a community event or project, or would like to find out more about what is going on in your area, our community connectors can help.
You can also stay up to date on our Connecting Communities Facebook group.
The Slade bin store
We have helped to upgrade the bin store at The Slade in Dursley to help encourage recycling as well as to cut down on fly tipping, as unfortunately there had been instances of non-residents using the bins.
After working with residents to understand the problems, we worked with Stroud District Council to get new recycling bags, increased the height of the bin store and installed a coded lock to ensure it would only be used by residents, and installed signage to help limit fly tipping.
Bristol Foyer lunch club
Young people living at our Bristol Foyer have been working on their cooking skills, with a lunch club having started. The first club included some delicious curries, and is encouraging residents to use their space as a home.
Enjoying the Christmas spirit
Residents at some of our schemes got into the Christmas spirit this year with different activities.
At Bristol Foyer we organised the fourth annual Christmas gift giveaway, which meant that all 51 residents received a present. This was organised by Beccy Perrin and the Bristol Foyer team, with donations from Beccy’s friends and family, the Bristol Junior Chamber, and food hampers from the church.
A Christmas singalong was also organised at Springfields in Filton, which was enjoyed by all the residents.
