Neighbours and friends from across LiveWest’s communities in the South West came together to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee last week.

Wilstock and Stockmore celebrated with a big Jubilee lunch on Saturday 4th June at Campion Way in Wilstock.

Lucinda Spelman-Ives from Wilstock Hub said: “We were so excited to host our Big Jubilee Lunch, after missing a few due to the pandemic we came back big style. Just as our Majesty the Queen wanted, our celebration brought people together in the community, it was filled with joy & laughter.

The girl guides mini exhibition showcased the Queen’s distinguished 70 year reign. The Queen had a long-standing personal history with the girl guides joining in 1937 and became their Patron in 1952.

Community spirit was lifted by celebrating the most remarkable women of our lifetime. Our Platinum Afternoon Tea gave the chance for people to sit and chat over a cream tea and really get to know each other. Everyone and everything was just brilliant.  Certainly a memorable day for all.”

Residents joined together for live street artists, punch and judy show, a live DJ and a magician. There was a childrens tea party, music, arts and crafts and royal bingo. There was a dog show to keep everyone entertained as well as a crown making competition for children. A Mini Queen’s Exhibition 1952-2022 was put together by the local Girl Guides.

Sally Hill Community Connector at LiveWest said: “The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee is such a momentous occasion I am very proud and appreciative of Wilstock Community Hub for coming together again and ensuring everyone in the community can celebrate together. Bringing people together is what Wilstock Hub is all about.”
