‘Give It Back’ is a new initiative between us and our contractors to deliver social value benefits for our customers. Through ‘Give It Back’, we joined forces with John West to improve the look of the outside space and made it easier for local residents to use.
Along with gardening work, the patio area was improved with the setup of an outside dining set and John West repaired and cleaned all garden furniture.
Our Tenancy Sustainment Team Leader Jonny Mathers said: “The ‘Give It Back’ project enables us to utilise commitments from our contractors, to meet real outcomes and improve the lives of our customers. The size of the project does not matter; it’s the difference that it makes which counts. This is LiveWest’s first completed ‘Give It Back’ project with more planned in the coming months. Future projects include sensory garden design, and the creation of extra communal green spaces.”
Ray Hutchinson, of John West Contractors, said: “It was a pleasure being involved in this project and great to see the smiles on the residents’ faces when the garden was finished. My thanks to all the team for ensuring the project came to a satisfactory conclusion.”
As a leading provider of supported housing for vulnerable people in the South West we are using national ‘Starts at Home’ day this week (31st August) to celebrate these vital services having helped secure a major campaign with other housing association partners and Government to ensure they have secure and stable funding in the long term to support local residents.
‘Starts at Home’ day is run by the National Housing Federation and celebrates the help hundreds of thousands of vulnerable people receive to gain their independence and confidence through supported housing.
We are joining the National Housing Foundation and its members in continuing to celebrate and protect these housing schemes to ensure that every person in South West who needs extra support has a home to turn to.
