Barne Barton our Pioneer Project and Timebanking are great examples of how Plymouth communities are driving change by taking ownership of the future. Our community development workers are doing great work in the Foxfield and Laira areas, where communities are tapping into new knowledge.
We know community investment provides individuals, families, and groups with resources and skills to improve their quality of life and their neighbourhoods. For many, community investment is a path to learning, skills, job creation, and small business start-ups but we also recognise that great communities are also healthy, active and resilient. Last year LiveWest had over 200 young people and adults putting something back into their community, donating 8,000 hours of time, doing something worthwhile for free.
Whether it’s through our work or through partnerships with others we are opening doors and enabling communities to thrive. We want to continue to be a strong voice on housing and regeneration in Plymouth, demonstrating the beneficial economic impact our investment in building new homes and in services is having on the local economy.
LiveWest manages over 38,000 homes to over 70,000 people throughout the South West from Gloucester to the Isles of Scilly. LiveWest has plans to build 7,500 homes in the area over the next five years. We are developing new homes of all tenures including low-cost rent and sale, market rent and sale, and a range of supported housing. As well as developing new homes LiveWest continues to invest in existing properties and communities. Through the stability of good housing, we place better living for better lives at the centre of our mission both today and for generations to come. At LiveWest we believe in a home for everyone.
