A partnership of 17 schools across Dartmoor have been given a digital boost after receiving a new set of laptops which will help children learn from home.
Dartmoor Multi Academy Trust (DMAT) has been given £9,900 to buy 49 Chrome Books by LiveWest so that pupils who do not have access to computers at home are not disadvantaged.
LiveWest contacted DMAT with the generous offer after stepping in to help bridge the educational gap created by lockdown.
Dan Morrow, CEO for Dartmoor Multi-Academy Trust, said: “On behalf of everyone at the Trust, I wanted to say a heartfelt thank you to LiveWest for their incredible generosity.
“The donation is important because it will help to ensure that every child in our schools will be able to access and engage with the curriculum, both up to the return to school on Monday 8th March and beyond.
“Our mission has always been to provide the highest possible quality of education for all local children and to ensure pupils from all backgrounds are empowered to succeed.
“What we have seen during the pandemic is some truly remarkable acts from organisations and people to help and support the children’s education. This community spirit is what makes Dartmoor special, and I’d like to thank everyone for their tireless work and support.”
“This donation will make a huge difference to the work we do.”
Our Grants Manager, Tim Wotton, said: “We were delighted to support Dartmoor Multi Academy Trust in this way.
"Providing funding to support children with their digital learning is vitally important for us.
"It has been a difficult time for children and to be able to make a difference in this way fill us with enormous pride."
