Residents at Plumley Court have been busy growing their own food, thanks to our support in increasing the accessibility of the garden.
As part of our social value commitments, one of our Weston-Super-Mare communities welcomes new pots and paving for its greenhouse.
We have recently teamed up with Jewson Partnership Solutions and South West Building Solutions Ltd, who have funded over £5,200 for this project with labour and materials to pave around the communal greenhouse, improving its accessibility.
Come rain or shine, the new paving has improved the accessibility of the garden area to the greenhouse, encouraging residents to spend more time outside and learning to grow their own food produce.
As a result of the residents coming together, many fruit and vegetables have been shared amongst the community for residents to enjoy.
Community Connector for the area, Shona Stone, said: “It’s great to see how the improved accessibility to the community greenhouse has increased the number or residents spending more time outside.
“It’s wonderful to see as more of our residents and learning how to grow their own fruit and vegetables, and sharing them with other residents.”
James Chambers, General Manager at Jewson Partnership Solutions, said: “We are delighted to have supported the residents of Plumley Court in this wonderful project.
“Enhancing the accessibility of the community greenhouse has significantly impacted the community, fostered a stronger sense of togetherness and made a real difference in the lives of the residents, something we're proud to have been a part of.“
