Our apprenticeship programme gets seal of approval with awards win

The success of our organisation is down to the people who work here and we take great pride in investing in our apprentices

We are delighted to have won the Apprenticeship Programme of the Year at the Insider Media South West Property Awards.

LiveWest has invested in apprenticeship since April 2015, setting up around 96 programmes.

We currently have 48 current apprentices on the programme, ranging from Plumbing and Heating Level 2 to Senior Leader master’s degree Level 7, with a variety of levels and specialisms in between.

We are very proud to pay all our Apprentices the Actual Living Wage which has allowed us to attract the very best talent in a variety of fields.

Of the 48 apprentices, 26 were external applicants and 22 were already with LiveWest and started an apprenticeship to run alongside their day-to-day role.

LiveWest’s commitment for developing careers is born out of the statistic showing that since April 2015, 93 out of 96 apprentices at LiveWest have gone on to secure a permanent role within the organisation.

We have built a successful talent pipeline through our apprenticeships and have won some other awards along the way.

We were named as the winners of the Apprentice Employer of the Year at the Exeter Business Awards in 2019 and were shortlisted in the category of Apprenticeship Development Award at the Western Morning News Business Awards – both a ringing endorsement of the opportunities we give to people to forge a career in the sector.

Laura Sanders, our People Skills Development Adviser, said: “I am absolutely delighted that we won Apprenticeship Programme of the Year at the Insider Media South West Property Awards.

“The last 18 months has been tough for everyone which is why I am so proud we have kept the programme going and even increased the numbers.

“There are so many people who are involved in making our apprenticeship programme such a success. From the apprentices, their mentors and line managers to everyone in the People Services team and training providers. It really is a team effort to make it a success.

“It shows how much LiveWest are committed to investing in our future and existing talent. Apprenticeships are a great way of developing skills, knowledge and behaviours which are in line with our values. It really is a privilege to be part of this journey.”
