We spoke to Lauren Ward, our Communications Coordinator to talk to her about what her apprenticeship journey has been like since she joined LiveWest and how she taken this even further to gain a degree level apprenticeship qualification.
‘’I’m currently studying a Level 6 apprenticeship in Digital Marketing which is equivalent to a bachelor’s degree and I work in the Communications team here at LiveWest. LiveWest have supported me hugely during and prior to my apprenticeship when I was interested in taking on a higher level qualification. Both my manager and my team were really open to the idea and they supported me in choosing the best qualification for me and my future career goals and I’m really enjoying it.
‘’There are so many advantages to an apprenticeship. I joined LiveWest originally as an apprentice four years ago and through progressing in my roles and joining our Communications team I was able to discuss my career aspirations which led me onto enrolling in a degree level apprenticeship which is exciting.
‘’Earning on the job is just a bonus. I’m able to build on my skills and knowledge from what I’ve learned theory wise and I’m able to apply it to my work. This gives me further experience to build on and it supports me in achieving my career aspirations in the future.
‘’An apprenticeship is a great route if you feel that full time classroom based working wouldn’t work for you but you still want to gain a qualification. Experience is important, and an apprenticeship gives you the opportunity to gain the skills and knowledge you need to progress. I really believe that I wouldn’t be able to achieve what I have been able to if I hadn’t taken the route of an apprenticeship. So, I’d recommend it.’’
