The Christmas Fayre was attended by hundreds of local people which had cakes, crafts, gifts and Santa made an appearance.

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas in Yate as the finishing touches were made to Ladden Garden Village before residents sang carols at the development.

Residents and members of the Ladden Garden Village Community Group invited the local community to join them on December 21 as they performed some of the best-loved Christmas carols.

The carol concert follows Ladden Garden Village Christmas Fayre at Brimsham Green School supported by LiveWest, Yate Parish, Barratt Homes and David Wilson Homes’. It attracted hundreds of visitors and raised £450 Bristol-based homeless charity, Blonde Angel Street Team, as it supports the homeless over the festive season.

LiveWest’s Community Connector, Marie Burke, has spent lots of her time helping with the organisation and planning of the fayre along with £1,000 grant for the community group from LiveWest towards events for the year.

Community Connector for LiveWest, Marie Burke, said: “It was fantastic to get involved in this event and to attend the fayre to see the hard work the community group put in to making this a success.

“LiveWest has supported the group with its meetings leading up to the event and helped run it, so we’re really pleased it went well and afterwards we took leftover food to the foodbank. There is such a community spirit here and for people to give up their time to make it happen is lovely this Christmas.”

While Barratt Homes and David Wilson Homes has given £500 to the Ladden Garden Village Community Group to fund mince pies and hot chocolate after the carols, along with selection boxes for children who visited Santa at the Christmas Fayre at Brimsham Green School.

Andrea Pilgrim, Sales Director for Barratt Homes Bristol, said: “The all-year round community spirit at Ladden Garden Village is really inspiring and the Community Group have gone above and beyond to bring the festivities to the development.”

Louise Ware, Sales Director at Barratt David Wilson Homes South West, added: “Events like the Christmas Faye and carols don’t just happen – they’re the result of the hard work and commitment of a whole host of organisations and our thanks go to a number of them such as LiveWest, Ladden Garden Village Neighbourhood Watch, Yate Parish and Yate Town Council that have worked alongside the Ladden Garden Village Community Group to bring the festive spirit to the local area.”
