On 26 October we wrote to our sheltered customers about providing our services and preventing the risk of coronavirus in areas such as communal rooms.
We have carefully reviewed the government’s latest information including the introduction of a three tier system, and guidelines that apply during the Christmas holidays. After much consideration we have decided that to keep you safe and to minimize the risk of Coronavirus communal areas will remain closed. We will continue to monitor the government’s information and we will review our approach in the new year.
Your scheme manager
Our scheme managers are still providing essential support for customers so you may see our teams at your scheme. Our scheme managers are always maintaining social distancing measures and have the appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), such as masks and hand sanitiser to keep everyone safe.
If you need to contact your scheme manager, please feel free to call them at any time. Please do not enter scheme managers’ offices. If your scheme manager needs to visit you in your home, please follow social distancing guidelines to keep you and our colleagues safe and well.
Fire safety during the festivities
One of the most important parts of staying safe during the festivities is ensuring that you prevent any potential fires in your home. Many of the things we enjoy over the Christmas period, such as the fairy lights, candles, paper hats and decorations, can all be fire hazards when proper care is not taken.
Your safety is our priority and we’ve put together some advice on how to keep you and your family safe this festive season. If you smell smoke, hear a sounder or spot a fire, you should act quickly.
Once you are safe, try and find a phone to call the emergency services – 999 calls are free. When you speak to the operator:
• give your whole address, including the town
• tell them what is on fire, e.g. ‘a two-storey house’
• explain if anyone is trapped and what room they’re in – give as much information as you can so they can help you
We hope you find our top tips for staying safe at Christmas useful, and we wish you a very merry Christmas and a safe and Happy New Year.
