Do you know what to do in the event of a fire in your home or building?
It is important to act quickly and prioritise getting to safety, rather than trying to fight the fire.
If the alarm sounds or you discover a fire, get out to safety and call 999. Whilst you may think you can fight the fire, your safety is the most important thing.
If you live in a block of flats, you should read the fire action notices which you can find in your communal areas. This will explain to you whether you should evacuate your building as soon as a fire is detected, or whether you can delay getting out if the fire is in a different part of the building. You can see an example of a fire action notice below.
Remember, if you are in any doubt, get out and call 999.
