What cleaning products should I think about using?
The biggest environmental impact of cleaning products is the harmful chemicals that they contain. After products are washed down the sink or drain, they can continue to damage and pollute our waterways.
To avoid this, we recommend:
- using heavy chemicals such as bleach sparingly and only when necessary
- where possible, try to use natural products such as vinegar
- avoid lots of packaging by using refills or recyclable containers
- avoid aerosols as these have been proven to damage the ozone layer
- try to have fewer cleaning products - using water and soap can often be surprisingly effective.
