How can I wash my dishes in a greener way?
When washing dishes, it’s important to think about how much energy and water we are using.
To wash your dishes in the greenest way we recommend:
- washing dishes by hand and using as little water as possible
- waiting to wash the dishes and then filling a small bowl of water to reuse
- if you have a dishwasher, make sure you wait until it is full before turning it
- use the eco or energy saver setting when using a dishwasher
- use zero waste or plastic free dishwashing products, such as silicone sponges. Most zero waste shops will also have a refill station allowing you to fill your own containers with washing up liquid, reducing the amount of plastic you buy.
