Communal area in Carn Brea Foyer

Carn Brea Foyer provides accommodation for 21 young people aged between 16-24 years. Among these, eight flats are designated as emergency accommodation units utilised by Cornwall Housing and Social Services, while the remaining 13 flats are allocated for Foyer placements.

The physical layout of the facility involves a main entrance leading to colleague office area and corridors providing access to the Foyer accommodation. The rear section of the building houses the eight emergency accommodation units, made up of four self-contained flats (S20) and an additional four self-contained flats upstairs, accommodating young people under the local council's interim S188 housing duty. Within the main Foyer area, there are seven flats, featuring two self-contained units and five flats, these are equipped with bedrooms featuring en-suite bathrooms and shared kitchen/living areas.

Outdoor amenities include large garden space furnished with garden furniture, as well as a dedicated bike store in the shed.

We also have communal recreational spaces accessible round the clock, including a recreational room furnished with a pool table, table tennis table, darts board, and a TV/PlayStation setup. Comfortable seating arrangements including sofas and beanbags  encourage socialisation and professional meetings in a relaxed environment. Additionally, a training/cinema room furnished with three sofas and a coffee table enforces skills development, cultural celebrations, and community-building activities, particularly through culinary activities in the training kitchen.

Our support team are based on site and is 24 hour with a waking support worker.  

Referrals for the foyer are via Cornwall Council’s Youth Homelessness Team.
