I want to downsize but can't afford a deposit
- Check with your local authority if they provide you with any assistance towards a deposit for downsizing.
- You can also speak to your housing officer as they may know about alternative funding that may be able to help. Find out who your housing officer is here.
- You can also complete a budget for yourself to identify where you can make savings and start a fund yourself. Click here to access a budgeting sheet.
- You can register to move with your local authority at any time. They will look at your application and decide on the urgency of your move and allocate you to a 'band'. Homes are then allocated by this banding on a needs basis. You can check how many bedrooms you are entitled to here
- You can also register to home swap as an alternative. Find out more about how you could arrange a home swap here. Please be aware your rent account needs to be up to date for a move to be considered.
