Scaffolding is sometimes put up on your property to provide a safe platform for our colleagues or contractors to carry out essential maintenance.
Those using the scaffolds are trained and have the appropriate equipment to safely access and exit the scaffold.
Scaffolds can be a very dangerous place to anyone who is not trained or authorised to use it.
For safety reasons, ladders are either removed or secured by ladder guards to prevent anyone from accessing the scaffold.
To help you stay safe when scaffolding is up on your home, take a look at our “Do’s and Do Nots” below.
-
- Please stay indoors including keeping any children and/or animals inside the property when a scaffold is being erected, used to carry out jobs or when it is being dismantled.
- Let LiveWest or the scaffolding contractor know if someone has accessed the scaffold as this is a criminal offence and may need to be reported to the police.
- Let LiveWest or the scaffolding contractor know if the scaffold is causing any concern or preventing safe access to the property.
- Let LiveWest or the scaffolding contractor know if anyone accidently hits the scaffold when parking a vehicle so we can check the scaffold remains safe.
-
- Access the scaffold yourself for any reason as it may be unsafe and only trained and authorised people should use it.
- Allow children to access the scaffold for any reason.
- Come out to watch the work being done as you could be hit by falling items.
- Tie anything to the scaffold.
- Try to tie down anything on the scaffold if the scaffold is causing a noise or banging overnight. Please let LiveWest or the scaffolding contractor know and we will revisit and secure any fixtures.
If you need to speak to someone about your scaffolding, contact details of the contractor should be displayed on any signs attached to it.
Alternatively, you can call LiveWest to report any issues on 0300 1238080.
