Young people showcase progress at Coach House open day
Young people from LiveWest's Coach House Foyer in Penzance are holding an open day on Wednesday 15 August from 10am to 4pm to showcase the valuable experience they have gained at the Foyer.
There will be stalls available from the Penzance Youth Market, a mask-making workshop, face painting, tombola, children’s craft corner, fun fair games, a BBQ and more.
The Coach House is run by LiveWest and provides young people aged between 16 and 25 who are homeless or at risk of homelessness with temporary accommodation and support to get their lives back on track.
Jo Gilbert, LiveWest Support Officer said: “This open day is an opportunity for others to see exactly what we do and how the young people progress and grow in the Coach House. We invite everyone who works with our young people and all the agencies that support them to come along. It would be helpful if attendees could also bring along information with them about their organisations, so we all have a clearer idea of what they do.
The open day is led by our young people and we leave most of the organisation to them. We also involve the youth market and soft play project as we have occupants involved with these organisations. In fact, one of our former customers founded and runs the soft play project. Events like this one aim to develop life skills and give young people valuable experience so that when they leave, they feel equipped and ready to start their new lives in independent living.''
