Christmas decorations with a difference

21 December 2018

Yarn bombing is taking over the Orchard Extra Care Scheme in Combe Down, Bath in an effort to spread some festive cheer this Christmas.

Residents have been busy making pom poms and decorating the gardens to put a smile on people’s faces.

Yarn bombing involves covering objects in public places, such as trees benches or railings, in knitted or crocheted items. And this Christmas, the residents decided to brighten up the garden by hanging the pom poms from railings and trees.

It demonstrates the care and pride the residents have in their outside areas.

Dee Griffith, Sheltered Housing and Support Officer said “I can’t get over how many more poms poms they have been making for the project.  I can see the whole garden being covered at this rate.”

Sonya Hines, Support Officer, informed us that the Young Peoples Supported Housing Unit in Bideford, Devon, is in the process of making “a ton of Pom Poms to Pom Pom Bomb our back garden”. We look forward to bringing photos of this soon.
